Delete Your GoCOM Account
Effective Date: February 25, 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your GoCOM Taxi account and what happens to your data when your request is processed.
1. How to Request Account Deletion
Option A: In-app Request (Recommended)
- Open the GoCOM Taxi app.
- Go to Profile → Support.
- Select Account deletion (or send a message requesting deletion).
- Include the phone number registered on your account.
Option B: Email Request
Send an email to our Data Protection Officer (DPO): dpo@gocom.ng
Please include:
- Your registered phone number (E.164 format e.g. +234XXXXXXXXXX)
- Your full name (if available on your profile)
- The reason for deletion (optional)
We may ask you to confirm ownership of the account to prevent unauthorized deletion requests.
2. What Data Is Deleted
- Account profile data: name, phone number, email, profile photo (if provided)
- Saved locations and preferences: favorites, app preferences (if applicable)
- Support chat data: may be deleted or anonymized where possible
- Device tokens: push notification tokens (FCM) are removed/invalidated
3. Data We May Retain
We may retain certain records where required for legal, regulatory, tax, safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and operational purposes.
- Trip and transaction records: ride history, timestamps, fares, payment references (retained as required by law)
- Safety and fraud logs: incident reports, abuse prevention logs, audit logs
- Legal compliance: records required by regulators or law enforcement requests
4. Processing Time
We process account deletion requests within 7 business days. In some cases (e.g., legal disputes or regulatory requirements), deletion may take longer. We will notify you if additional time is required.
