GoCOM Taxi ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services in Nigeria, in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR).

1. Information We Collect

  • Personal Data: Name, phone number, email, BVN (for drivers), national ID, driver’s license, vehicle details, payment information.
  • Location Data: Real-time GPS location when the app is in use (rider & driver).
  • Trip Data: Pick-up/drop-off addresses, route, timestamps, fare.
  • Usage Data: Device information, IP address, app version, crash logs.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Provide and improve ride-hailing services.
  • Process payments securely via licensed Payment Service Providers (PSP).
  • Verify driver identity and vehicle compliance with Lagos State Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Send promotional offers (with your consent).
  • Comply with NITDA and law enforcement requests.

3. Legal Basis (NDPA Section 27)

We process data based on:

  • Performance of contract (ride service).
  • Legitimate interest (fraud prevention, safety).
  • Consent (marketing communications).
  • Legal obligation (tax reporting, police requests).

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We share data with:

  • Drivers/riders during trips (name, phone, location).
  • Payment gateways (Flutterwave, Paystack).
  • Law enforcement or regulators when legally required.
  • Third-party analytics (anonymized data only).

5. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard encryption (AES-256) and store data in Nigeria-based servers compliant with NDPR 2.1(2). Data is retained for 7 years as required by Nigerian tax laws or until you request deletion.

6. Your Rights (NDPA Section 37–42)

You have the right to:

  • Access your data.
  • Rectify inaccurate data.
  • Erase data (right to be forgotten).
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data portability.
